Breed of the Month- April 2020: Bull Terrier

April 29, 2020
Let's take a closer look into the background of these eccentric terriers, the Bull Terrier! These endearing dogs are known to be quite devoted to their families and bring lots of entertainment to their households.

The average height of Bull Terriers range from 21-22 inches and weigh anywhere from 50 to 70 pounds. The Bull Terrier is known for their sturdiness and stocky body along with their hallmark egg-shaped head, pointed ears and smaller eyes. Common coat colors include white and all other colors either solid or with white markings.

In regards to diet, this can be discussed with your veterinarian to determine what the most appropriate dog food would suit your terrier. The Bull Terrier was bred for sport, meaning exercise will greatly benefit them. This can include a long walk, tracking, agility, and others. These activities can help stimulate their minds as well as exhaust any extra energy they may have pent up.

According to the Bull Terrier Club of America, it is highly recommended to have the following exams performed by a veterinarian:

  •  Cardiac Exam
  •  Kidney-urine Analysis
  • Patella Evaluation
  • BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) Testing

If you are looking for an entertaining, lovable and humurous companion to join your pack, this may be the breed for you! To learn more about these charming canines, head on over to the AKC website!
